DPW Pickup

The Village Department of Public Works (DPW) oversees the performance and maintenance of the Village’s infrastructure, including the water system, sewer system, roads, and Village property. Many of the services that the Village provides, both free and fee-based, are under the care of the DPW.

SERVICES

Brush Pick-Up

Curbside pick-up is on Monday mornings. Please have your brush out before 6:00 AM to ensure pick-up.

  • To expedite brush pickup, if you have (10) or more bags/bundles of brush you must call and reserve the Dial-a-truck.
  • All leaves, grass clippings, and twigs must be in paper bags. We do not pick up brush in garbage cans, bins, or any type of container.
  • Bags must weigh less than (50) pounds.
  • All limbs must be cut to less than five feet, tied, and bundled so they can easily be handled by one person.
  • DPW will not pick up bags of dirt.
  • Plants that are bagged must have dirt shaken off of them.
  • Christmas trees are accepted.

Leaf Pick-Up

  • The Village DPW conducts seasonal leaf pick-up using a vacuum truck from mid-October through Thanksgiving, subject to weather conditions.
  • Leaves must be raked in rows between the sidewalk and curb. Leaf piles shall not extend into the street. Branches and twigs must be tied and bundled. After Thanksgiving, leaves must be bagged.
  • Pick-up begins the first workday of the week and continues through the week, following the above mapped routes, until one complete pass has been made through the Village.
  • Collection starts on the route where it ended the previous workday.
  • Contributing factors may prevent the completion of collection on in one work week.

Sidewalk Snow Removal

  • Sidewalks built via the Main Street project or the Safe Routes to School Sidewalk Project are maintained by the Village DPW

Dial-A-Truck

  • For large amounts of brush, residents can hire the DIAL-A-TRUCK service
  • The DPW will drop off a dump truck in the afternoon and pick it back up early the following business day.
  • To reserve the DIAL-A-TRUCK, please call the DPW at (607)342-2794.

Green Waste Center

The Village Green Waste Center allows you to drop off brush, leaves, yard clippings, etc... at the end of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Tree sections up to 16 inches in diameter and 8 feet long can be dropped off, along with any other brush, limbs, leaves, yard clippings, or other yard waste. All other materials are not accepted including rocks, fill, tires, construction debris, and garbage.

Additionally, this service is limited to Village residents only. Non-village residents may not use the Green Waste Center.

Mulch (wood chips) & Compost (composted leaf soil)

  • Village residents
    • $35 for 1.5 cubic yards, $50 for 3.0 cubic yards
    • Delivery or pick-up is available
  • Non-village residents
    • $45 for 1.5 cubic yards, $60 for 3.0 cubic yards
    • Only pick-up is available, no delivery
