Trumansburg Deer Management Program

Deer Management

The goals of the Trumansburg Deer Management Program (TDMP) are to reduce the negative impacts of the Village’s excessive deer population, such as Lyme disease, car accidents and property damage.

Now commencing its seventh year, the TDMP resumes in September 2020 and will continue through the end of March 2021. This year’s site map remains the same as in previous years, and the program will run in similar fashion as it has in the past, with participants generally active Friday and Saturday evenings – but potentially active at other times during the week – on any or all of the sites. Most of the deer will be donated to the Venison Donation Program to supply venison to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. The Village will provide periodic updates on the number of deer taken and the amount donated to the Food Bank.
