New Road Safety Experiment Coming to Halsey Street

The Village of Trumansburg is implementing a road-calming experiment on Halsey Street to reduce vehicle speeds through visual changes to the roadway. We'll be painting shoulder lines to create the appearance of a narrower road and adding pedestrian warning signage - techniques that research shows can effectively encourage slower driving without expensive construction. We've collected baseline speed data and will monitor results to measure the impact of these changes.

Community input is important to us! If you have questions, concerns, or observations about this speed reduction initiative, please reach out to the Village Clerk at clerk@trumansburg-ny.gov. Your feedback will help determine the success of this pilot and guide future road safety improvements throughout Trumansburg.

The DPW is planning on painting lines in approximately around the 15th of September.
