Update on Halsey Street Road Safety Experiment

The Village of Trumansburg attempted to implement the road-calming experiment on Halsey Street this fall, but equipment issues prevented us from completing the roadway painting as planned. We remain committed to this speed reduction initiative and intend to proceed with the experiment in spring 2026 once we can address the technical challenges we encountered.

In the meantime, we will be installing additional pedestrian warning signage on Halsey Street to improve safety for those using the road. We continue to believe this approach has merit and look forward to measuring its effectiveness once we're able to fully implement the visual changes to the roadway.

Community input remains important to us! If you have questions, concerns, or observations about this initiative, please reach out to the Village Clerk Treasurer at clerk@trumansburg-ny.gov. Your feedback will continue to guide our road safety improvements throughout Trumansburg.

We appreciate the community's patience as we work to make Halsey Street safer for everyone.
